About The Wing's

Mr. Au Yeung, the founder, dedicated himself to the cycling sport around 1957. He joined the South China Athletic Association and later founded the Kowloon Cycling Club. In addition to being an athlete, he expanded the bicycle business for "The Wing’s Company" in 1960. Prior to that, the company solely focused on automotive glass business and provided bus glass for the Kowloon Motor Bus.

The establishment and development of The Wing’s in Hong Kong not only marked the beginning of Mr. Au Yeung's personal cycling career but also served as an important milestone in the development of cycling culture in Hong Kong. In the early 1960s, when the Hong Kong economy had not yet taken off, bicycles were primarily used as a means of transportation. Therefore, The Wing’s faced numerous challenges in its initial development. However, with the economic miracle in Hong Kong and the growing popularity of cycling as a recreational activity, many young people joined the cycling movement, and The Wing’s became their gathering place and platform for exchange. It can be said that The Wing's success was influenced by the social background and environment of Hong Kong at that time.

Nostalgic Reminiscence: A Pilgrimage Site for Cycling Enthusiasts

As the popularity of cycling grew, The Wing’s continued to expand its business by importing top-notch bicycles and components from Italy. In 1968, The Wing’s became the Asian distributor for Italian bicycles and parts, allowing Hong Kong cycling enthusiasts to access world-class cycling products and contributing to the development of cycling in Hong Kong.

At The Wing’s, cycling enthusiasts can trace the trajectory of cycling history and discover precious "antique" bicycles. They may even find the golden chariot that achieved numerous victories, becoming a pilgrimage site for many enthusiasts. Although the store's interior and exterior may not be as modern as other bicycle shops, The Wing’s excels in its wide range of high-quality products. With Mr. Au Yeung's wealth of cycling knowledge and experience, as well as the quality of products and services provided, The Wing’s bicycles have earned the love and trust of Hong Kong's cycling enthusiasts. Even today, The Wing’s holds a significant position in the hearts of cyclists and is considered a venerable institution in the cycling community.

Fostering Talent: The Hidden Force Behind Glory

The Wing’s establishment and development reflected certain characteristics and trends in Hong Kong society at the time. It also contributed to the promotion and development of cycling culture in Hong Kong and played an active role in advancing the local sports industry. The Wing’s has been dedicated to promoting and popularizing cycling, actively supporting various cycling competitions and events, and providing support and sponsorship to numerous athletes, including the renowned Hong Kong cyclist, Wong Kam-po.

Passing on the Torch: The Enduring Spirit of The Wing’s

Wong Kam-po's outstanding performance in the sports arena not only brought him success and glory but also established aspirations to promote and popularize cycling in Hong Kong. He hoped to introduce more people to cycling and contribute to the development of the sports industry and culture in Hong Kong. These aspirations aligned with Mr. Au Yeung's philosophy of running the business, leading to a consensus that allowed Wong Kam-po to take over the management of The Wing’s Bicycle after retiring from the Hong Kong Cycling Team and the Olympic Committee, continuing the legacy and vision of Mr. Au Yeung and contributing to the development of cycling.

In October 2019, Mr. Au Yeung passed away. Wong Kam-po fulfilled his commitment to Mr. Au Yeung and officially took over the management and operation of The Wing’s Bicycle Company after completing his responsibilities with the Hong Kong Cycling Team and the Olympic Committee in September 2022. He carries on Mr. Au Yeung's spirit and aspirations, continuing to promote the development of cycling and contributing to the sports industry and culture in Hong Kong.

 

In 2022, Wong Kam-po assumed full responsibility for managing The Wing’s Bicycle Company. Besides leading a professional team to market bicycle products, he actively organized professional cycling training and promotion activities, as well as various promotional events and competitions throughout the Greater China region, aiming to further popularize the sport of cycling.
